http://schools.shorelineschools.org/echo_lakeTo the Echo Lake Community,
We’d like to invite you to volunteer and make a difference at Echo Lake Elementary. Partnerships help make Echo Lake successful, and partnering with the local community is one way we help students connect to the world and improve their education.
We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities to choose from:
❏ Math Olympiad: The math club meets once a week at 8:00 on Thursday mornings. If you love math this is the place for you! Help 4th-6th grade students meet mathematical challenges. (karen.anderson@shorelineschools.org or 206-361-4338)
❏ Library Helpers: Our beautiful library is always in need of volunteers to help shelve books and/or work the circulation desk. (dennis.day@shorelineschools.org or 206-361-4338)
❏ Classroom Assistance: Want to read with a first grader? Tutor a small math group? Make photocopies? Cut and paste for Kindergartners? We’ll work to find a job that you want to do! (paul.shanahan@shorelineschools.org or 206-361-4338)
❏ Art Infused Monday: Twice a month volunteers help lead art lessons on Mondays at 1:30 in the afternoon. The art focus in November is landscapes and the December focus is on Picasso and Matisse. (paul.shanahan@shorelineschools.org or 206-361-4338)
Primary dates (K-3): 10/6, 11/3, 12/8, 1/5, 2/2, 3/9, 4/6, 5/11, 6/15
Intermediate dates (4-6): 10/13, 11/17, 12/15, 1/12, 2/9, 3/16, 4/13, 5/18, 6/15
❏ Lego Club: Want to help students create and connect during lunch recess? We have a new program that allows a small percentage of each of our classrooms to go to Lego Club at recess for an alternative to the outdoor playground. (julie.blackwood@shorelineschools.org or 206-361-4338)
❏ Homework Club: One Wednesday morning a week at 8:00, students can come to the library for help with their homework. (karen.nicholson@shorelineschools.org or 206-361-4338).
All volunteers in Shoreline must complete a background check prior to working with students. Paperwork is available at any Shoreline school. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Paul Shanahan and Mary Koontz

She is saving for a van for her Special Education program. Again, these may be brought to any Echo Lake meeting.
